A/Professor Ginn is a Senior Research Officer at the Gene Therapy Unit, Children’s Medical Research Institute.

After obtaining her PhD in bacterial genetics and molecular biology from The University of Sydney, Samantha Ginn has dedicated her career to the field of gene therapy. She is the current President of the Australasian Gene and Cell Therapy Society, Associate Editor for the journal Gene Therapy, Editorial Board member for The Journal of Gene Medicine, holds a conjoint appointment as Associate Professor with The University of Sydney and is the Lead Investigator for Evaluating novel gene editing strategies for the treatment of genetic liver disease in children innovation research supported by Luminesce Alliance. Her research focuses on using of both viral and non-viral gene transfer systems to develop therapies for monogenic diseases affecting children. Her current research uses recombinant AAV vectors and lipid nanoparticles to deliver genome editing technology to high-value targets including the liver and nervous system with a particular focus on the use of predictive preclinical human models.
