Professor Paul Ekert is the Deputy Director, Research Themes and head of the Translational Tumour Biology laboratory at Children’s Cancer Institute (CCI); and Conjoint Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney.

He heads the CCI Functional Genomics program funded by Luminesce Alliance, with a particular focus on Cas13-based technologies. Paul leads a research program studying novel findings of ZERO to improve our understanding of how changes in genes cause cancers, and how we can use this understanding to develop more effective and less toxic therapies.
